Pilates at Hartley Heys is a mat class. We start with a group of exercises which are designed to warm the body up; concentrating on the areas we will be working on during the class. This is predominately the abdomen, shoulders and back.
The next set of exercises are designed to strengthen and stabilise your core (the core includes stomach, pelvic floor (in men the muscle that stops you weeing), back and oblique’s. We do include some glute and shoulder work.
The moves may look simple, but they take a lot of precision and control and we have a strong emphasis on technique. My favourite thought is ‘ if the exercise is easy, you are not doing it correctly’
Not only does Pilates make your core strong it also makes you more sculpted, develops long and lean muscles, increase flexibility, creates a better posture and importantly gives you a better sense of well-being.
Next is a warm down and stretch of the muscles we have used. Our classes are 50 minutes to an hour and we are based in Simonstone, Sabden and Whalley. Nr Clitheroe. In the Ribble Valley.
